Anyone have a spare pair of front jerry-can holders?
Late 2a/3 type which mount fore and aft inboard of the front wings.

I doubt very much if you will find anyone with 'spare' ones - they are very sought after!

However, Mick (Jabbawocky on here) has made some replicas to the original design and quality, so drop him a PM to see if he's got any in stock, or has more in the pipeline.

Some clarification needed for me please - are we talking the rectangular holders which fit between the wings, ir the triangular ones which fit in front of the wings?
"Rectangular" ones are pretty much easily available, the "triangular" ones are proper rare!

Out of interest, I have the rectangular ones inbtween the wings and have noticed a detrimental effect on my intercooler and oil cooler when on high speed autobahn runs.

Mick & Steve have the holders and box between the wings, and they both remove the passenger side jerry can on a long run. As you've found, it does affect the intercooler on a 200TDi conversion.

I find fitting an ammo box on the top of my front bumper makes my radiator run hot - I had to remove it when towing a Carawagon body - I was finding the electric fan was kicking in on every climb! Then again, with lights on the front panel, that doesn't leave a lot of opening for cooling so anything blocking the front will affect it.
My intercooler is in the usual 200TDi position as well, which means it's behind the headlight

You are correct, Alex, you can use any jerry can holder if fitting them between the wings, but the original (and copied) Carawagon/Dormobile ones are much heavier duty and look the part more

I do make copies of the original Carawagon Jerry can holders and plan to make copies of the Land Rover original equipment Jerry can holders, but do not yet have all the measurements I need. They have to be correct to get Series owners to pay for the cost of making them.

I have ex-army Jerry can holders on my Dormobile and paid £25 each for them. I have seen them recently for £30 each at a recent show, but you might be able to haggle. I had to weld an angle bracket to the bottom to allow them to bolt to the bumper and to raise them up high enough to clear the chassis near the front panel. Raising them to clear the chassis made the top of the holders foul the bonnet, so I had to lower a section of the Jerry can holder.

As Alex and Robin have said above, Jerry cans, etc, do restrict air flow through the intercooler/radiator and I do remover the Jerry can when traveling. Why have I not just removed the holder, I hear you ask? Simply because this holder is for a water Jerry can and I need somewhere to put it when parked up. Why not make a holder on the back I hear you say? The Dormobile is already tail heavy, so the full water can goes in the rear foot well between the rear passengers. If you camp on the mostly free 'Aires de Service' in France, all your kit must stay on/in the vehicle and we like to use these.

When I get around to making the original Land Rover Jerry can holders, expect to pay around £75 each for them.

You might think they are a little expensive compared to other jerrican holders, however quality comes at a premium and these are unavailable! I had tried getting hold of some for about 2 years before approaching Mick and asking that he make some (having seen his Dormobile and Carawagon roof racks, I knew he would be able to construct these)

Just noticed these. No idea if they fit inside the chassis or ride over the top. only important if you want to fit a winch or tool box.
